Spring might be the one time of year that the mountains are overshadowed by what's at your feed. Marvel at the wildflowers igniting the landscape.

Summer is the time to escape to higher altitudes and cooler temperatures. Hike waterfalls or go whitewater rafting.

Autumn is when the mountains come alive with color with golden poplars, scarlet sourwoods and many others along the Blue Ridge Parkway. It also brings out the arts, Appalachian crafts, and cultural festivals.

Winter and romance go hand in hand. You'll find plenty of cozy inns and crackling fires to come home to after a day of antiquing and browsing. Or, grab your skis and head for the nearby slopes.
