Hiking | Individuals 16 and older are required to have a valid fishing
license. On the Cherokee Reservation, the age is 12 and older. A valid North Carolina
driver's license is needed for obtaining a resident fishing license. The basic fishing license entitles the owner to fish in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park and all state-stocked streams. A comprehensive license includes the park, state-stocked streams and gamelands. A comprehensive fishing license for the park is $20 a year, which includes all state supported streams. A one-day license for NC residents in the park is $5, plus a $10 trout stamp. For non-residents a comprehensive fishing license is $40. A one-day license for non-residents is $10 or $13 for three days, plus a $10 trout stamp. On the Cherokee Indian Reservation, a one-day tribal fishing permit is $5, a three-day permit is $14 and a five-day permit is $20. For information, call the Fish & Game Management of the Eastern band of Cherokee Indians at 828-497-5201. For county fishing in Haywood County, a fishing license is $10 per year for residents. All year permits are good for one year following the date of purchase. No license is required in the county of residence as long as only natural bait is used. |
